Tough Questions, Tough Answers, Tough Kids…

Okay so I got a bunch on my mind and Gods been doing amazing things so i want to give a update but forgive me if I am scatterbrained. So today has been an amazing day of encouragement, guidance, and reassurance. After today i can honestly say that I feel like I am exactly where God wants me to be and that is a comforting feeling.

So i guess Ill just walking you through my day. First we had a meeting with Greg. Greg is the pastor at Paseo Church that we were in contact with before we moved down and really helped in getting us settled. He shared with us a lot about the vision he has on some specific ministries as far as where we live and some intentional community/apartment ministry stuff. I am really excited about that. Ill have more details on that later.

So the next thing we did related to our jobs. So obviously we found jobs haha. We met a guy at church on Sunday who is a relator. Pretty much he has a lot of odd jobs and such that he could use help with so he hired us as his assistants.  So we are relator assistants. Im pretty stoked about it. We do a lot of simple stuff like put up and take down signs, look up listening, and show houses. Its really cool because its super flexible and Jorge (my boss) is a awesome guy! He knows why we are hear and pretty much said just work when you can and that is exactly what i was looking for. Jorge has really been a blessing and i pray that the work we do for him will bless him back!

So after that we met with a guy we talked to Greg about who is runs a ministry called Ciudad Nueva that does several things but one of there main aspects of ministry is programs for elementary, middle, and high school students. We met with him for a couple hours and then had the chance to participate in the program with the middle schoolers. At one point we splint into small groups to have a discussion and the topic was to talk about how the situation in Juarez was affecting their lives. It broke my heart to hear how almost everyone in some way was hurt by the violence. Everything from family members killed to a eighth grader loosing a member of his football team. One of the questions we asked the kids were why do think this is happening. One boys response was “I think that if they could see all the families they hurt and pain they cause then they would stop. But they are too blinded by there greed for money.” Since I decided to move to El Paso I have been praying about ways to get into Juarez to try to minister to the people affected by the violence and I believe this was God telling me that they are right here in El Paso. Not that that means i will not do anything Juarez but the desire i have to ministry people affected by the violence can easily be done in El Paso. In fact tomorrow im going into Juarez with my buddy Kurt to get some footage for Casas Por Cristo (the organization that builds houses in Juarez). Anyway it is looking like we will be volunteering the on tue., wed., and thur. working with the middle school aged kids. Pretty stoked for that!

Also i been talking with some people from Casas and I am going to be volunteering in there officer on mondays for about 8 hours. I am super exicted to be able to help them in any way because i really believe in the things that they are doing! I may also get trained to be a volunteer to lead house builds for times of the year when they are really busy and need extra help! That would be really awesome!

So as you can things are really starting to come together and we are really excited about the different ministries that weare beginning to get involved in. Im sure i missed a bunch of stuff i wanted to share but this overly long post will to do. : ) I will post more as more excited stuff happens! But until thank you for your continued prayers, it really means a lot!

Anonymous said: So guys, you are not in El Paso to work with Casas? I think I have that right. You guys are just moving down there to serve in your own ways?

Yes we are not working directly just with Casas. We will post some more information about the ministries were are involved with soon!

Its just the beginning….

So after much procrastination I am finally creating my first blog! This blog will consist of posts by Nick (me) and Andy. They will be signed at the end of the post so you know who wrote it. Basically the purpose of this blog is to keep everyone updated on events going on in our lives and ministries in hopes that you will join with us in prayer as we continually seek to serve our Lord Jesus. So without any further procrastination your first update…..

So since the time that we left our homes we have been continually overwhelmed by Gods provision. Not to say that everything has been completely easy and hassle free but not for one second have we been without everything we needed. At this point we have been in El Paso just over a week and just two days ago moved into our new apartment. Living in El Paso just for a week has been a big change and is a lot different then i expected. Someone said to me the other day that in El Paso you will get the most out of U.S. experience while still being in the U.S. and i could not agree with them more. However with that said there is no where else I would rather be because i know that this is where God wants me and I am so happy to be here.

So here are a few thing that i am super excited/thankful for. First the apartment complex that we moved into has some really awesome people here! They have been super friendly and we have already begun building relationships with them! We are very excited to see what God will do here in the future. Next we have been super blessed by some very awesome friends. We have been over to peoples homes multiple times for diner and fellowship. We have met some people who are very excited about us being here and want to help us in any way that they can. God has just been giving us crazy amounts of encouragement through new friends and that has been such a blessing.

So here is some things that you can be praying about. Fist now that we are settled in our place to live our next step is deciding where were going to serve, how much were going to serve, where were going to work, how much were going to work, and so on. God has definitely been showing us many many different ways in which we can serve Him here and there is so much that I am excited about. I have more details on that but I think thats all i will share for now : p

Okay so feel free to ask questions in the ask us anything section. We will try to be timely with our responses but no promises. Between myself and Andy hopefully this thing gets updated weekly but we will see! So i will close with these words of encouragement from the book of Hebrews:

”Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.  Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart” Hebrew 12:1-5
